It had a very good soundtrack though.

Correction:

"For me Streets of Rage reiGned supreme"

"The gaming genre is something I was largely unfamiliar with too until fairly recently, and these posts were an attempt (following a bit of a quiet year in cinema) to apply the same critical eye to a few key examples as one would normally do with more established culture - namely film, music and literature"

I did something similar with animated films recently. The gaming genre is something I was largely unfamiliar with too until fairly recently, and these posts were an attempt (following a bit of a quiet year in cinema) to apply the same critical eye to a few key examples as one would normally do with more established culture - namely film, music and literature... (I've never heard of Streets of Rage but it sounds ruthless.)
Here's hoping that 2011 throws up some decent things to blog about...!RobTurnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00802723771633359095noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6688080342863992298.post-16429375293308700352011-01-05T08:20:23.667+00:002011-01-05T08:20:23.667+00:00Rob,

I haven't heard of a lot of the choices in your lists. You treat the medium seriously and write the entries up very well and very lucidly.

The games that might appeal most to me now are those that are not trying to be 'cinematic' (possibly like Scribblenauts) or are at least in a fresh, exciting style (I liked Rez). Ironically it may require more film directors or animators to get involved - I know the opposite migration has occurred.

For me Streets of Rage reined supreme, especially in two player (where the battle was killing the opponents and each other at the same time!).

Happy New Year.Stephenhttp://checkingonmysausages.blogspot.comnoreply@blogger.com
